Muskegon Area Career Tech Center
The Muskegon Area Career Tech Center provides education and training programs to prepare students for in-demand industries including construction, manufacturing, welding, software development, and health care.
Description
The Career Tech Center (CTC) in Muskegon opened in January 2005 to serve high school juniors and seniors throughout the Muskegon Area. This 73,000 square foot world class training center is the area’s leader in hands on learning!
Career Tech Center students are equipped to excel through real-world learning, an emphasis on career readiness, and the lifelong network they build with CTC staff and industry professionals. The center’s 17 career-prep programs help students accelerate their future career by offering academic credit, such as English and math, professional certifications, and free college credit.
Classes are free, take place during the normal school day, and last 2.5 hours. Interested students should speak to their high school counselor to enroll. Prior to enrollment, students are encouraged to complete extensive career exploration and assessment activities, such as Xello, to determine their career goals, interests, and abilities. This helps match students with programs that will provide them the greatest chance for success.

Credentials Information
Articulated Credit:
Articulated credit is a type of college credit granted through an agreement between the Career Tech Center (CTC) and specific colleges or universities. To qualify, students must complete their CTC course with a B average or higher and demonstrate mastery of the required skills for the equivalent college course. Credit is posted to a college transcript after the student has completed a certain number of classes at the college or university. Credit generally does not transfer from one college to another.
For detailed information on articulated credit at the CTC, see our articulated credit flier.
Direct Credit:
Direct credit is a type of concurrent enrollment where CTC students have the opportunity to earn college credit through the successful completion of their CTC program. The credits appear on a college transcript and are transferable to many Michigan colleges and universities.
